I’m sure you have heard about them, especially if there is one geared towards your specific major. Most of the various engineering degrees have student organization to assist the student and promote opportunities. Here at UAF, the accounting program has GAAP, Great Alaskan Accounting People. This organization provides students an insight to the accounting world through guest speakers as well as trips to local CPA firms and Anchorage area accounting firms. They also help the student prepare for there future through professional development events like resume building, dress-for-success sessions, and socials. I would recommend to all accounting students to become an active member of this organization.
